In the Ötztal Valley, in Tyrol, Austria, the Wake AREA is part of the large adventure complex AREA 47, one of the most famous outdoor sports destinations in Austria, offering a wakeboard cable on a body of water designed to remain calm all day.
The 420 m long cable is equipped with six lines and obstacles from the Shape brand: kicker, funbox, and a wedge with rail to progress on technical modules. An island has been created in the middle of the lake to filter the waves and ensure calm conditions, a point highlighted by the official site to explain the quality of the ride.
Every day, a reduced speed time slot is offered between 12 PM and 2 PM for beginners, before returning to normal speed for the rest of the day. The minimum age is set at 10 years, and helmets and vests are provided free of charge. The Wake AREA also hosts the Tyrolean Wakeboard Masters, a competition that brings together riders from all over the country.
The Wake AREA is just one of the many activities offered by AREA 47, one of the largest outdoor adventure complexes in Austria, which combines rafting, canyoning, via ferrata, zip-lining, and climbing in the heart of the Ötztal Valley, the gateway to the Tyrolean glaciers. This location allows for combining a cable session with other outdoor activities in the same day, through combined tickets offered by the complex.
The site features on-site dining and a relaxation area by the lake, designed to extend the day beyond just wakeboarding. The Ötztal Valley, also known for its ski resorts in winter, allows the Wake AREA to fit into a rare four-season tourist offering for a cable wakepark in Europe.
The official 2026 rates indicate a 2-hour pass starting at €38, a day pass (7 hours) starting at €55, a Wake School Basic package (1h45 of coaching) starting at €70, a 10-session card starting at €333, and a full season pass at €795. Since these rates are regularly updated by AREA 47, it's best to check the current amounts before booking.
With its alpine setting, technical obstacles, and flexible pricing policy, the Wake AREA at AREA 47 remains a reference for cable wakeboarding in Austria.
The best time to enjoy the Wake AREA is during the warm season, from May to September, when the AREA 47 complex operates at full capacity with all its outdoor activities. Combined tickets with rafting or canyoning allow you to enjoy multiple activities on the site in one day.
With its alpine setting, combined tickets with other outdoor activities, and well-defined summer season, the Wake AREA perfectly complements the already rich offering of the AREA 47 complex.
