In Beijing, in the Shunyi district, the Olympic water park built for rowing, canoeing, and open water swimming for the 2008 Olympics has hosted a Rixen cable wakeboard installation since 2013.
Bruno Rixen, the inventor of cable wakeboarding, was personally present at the first competition held at the site. Since then, the location has become a global reference: it hosted several rounds of the cable wakeboard World Cup starting in 2013-2014, and then the IWWF World Championships of Cable Wakeboard & Wakeskate in 2026, bringing together over 170 riders from 30 countries.
The site, managed by the Beijing authorities, is accessible only through ticketing via WeChat, with no dedicated website.
A spot rich in history for wakeboard enthusiasts passing through China, at the heart of an Olympic site still in operation.
